New Jersey Audubon's Plainsboro Preserve

The Plainsboro Preserve is New Jersey Audubon's main site in Central New Jersey. The nearly 1,000-acre Preserve features an educational center, a lake surrounded by wooded walking trails, and nature programs for all ages. As a Center Assistant, my main duties were to assist visitors, provide information about the Preserve and wildlife, and maintain the front desk, among many other small tasks. I also researched, wrote, and designed a display on the Preserve's natural and cultural history.

Center Assistant, 2015-2016
Norman M. Eberly Multilingual Writing Center
Writing Tutor/Writing Associate, 2015-2017

For the past three semesters, I have worked as a Writing Tutor at Dickinson College. This position involved an intensive semester-long training course on working with writers. As a tutor, I helped students to improve their own writing skills. The goal of our tutoring program was not to help students achieve better grades on papers, but to help them learn how to express their thoughts and voices more effectively. This position required working with a wide range of students, including English Language Learners, International Fellows from the War College, and writers of every experience level.

Appalachian Trail Conservancy
Visitor Services Representative

This May, I will begin working at the Appalachian Trail Conservancy in Boiling Springs, PA. Boiling Springs is the site of the ATC's Mid-Atlantic Regional Office, which oversees the trail from the New York-Connecticut border to Shenandoah National Park in Virginia. As such, the center experiences a high volume of visitors including hikers, ATC members, visitors to Boiling Springs, and many more. I will act as a resource for visitors, providing information about the trail and assistance in the center itself.
